Airbus is reporting a strong order intake across all its businesses in year-end results for 2023, including dozens of Canada-built A220 airliners.

The company reported a total of 735 commercial aircraft deliveries last year, including 68 A220s, 571 from the A320 family, 32 A330s and 64 A350s. This is a notable increase from 661 total deliveries in 2022.

“This was a significant achievement given the complexity of the operating environment,” said Guillaume Faury, Airbus chief executive officer, in a release.

Gross commercial aircraft orders totalled 2,319 (up from 1,078 aircraft in 2022) with net orders of 2,094 aircraft after cancellations (2022: 820 aircraft). The order backlog amounted to 8,598 commercial aircraft at the end of 2023.

Revenues generated by Airbus’ commercial aircraft activities increased 15 per cent, mainly reflecting the higher number of deliveries, the company said.

Airbus said continues to ramp up its A220 assembly, working toward a monthly production rate of 14 aircraft in 2026, with a focus on the program’s industrial maturity and financial performance.

Consolidated revenues increased 11 per cent year-on-year to € 65.4 billion (approximately $94.94 billion), while revenues generated by Airbus’s commercial aircraft activities increased 15 per cent.

The company said it aims to deliver around 800 commercial aircraft in 2024, assuming no additional disruptions to the world economy, air traffic, the supply chain, the company’s internal operations, and its ability to deliver products and services.
