A week ahead of this year’s National Business Aviation Association Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), Embraer unveiled its new Phenom 100EX business jet — the latest evolution from the Phenom 100 series, which was first introduced in 2008.

With over 400 Phenom 100s in operation around the world, the new 100EX jet “is the result of continuous improvements over the years based on customer feedback,” Embraer said in a press release.

Powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617F1-E engines, the 100EX has a range of 1,178 nautical miles (four occupants) and a maximum payload of 1,775 pounds – both of which are improvements over the Phenom 100EV. The new jet can operate at a maximum altitude of 41,000 feet, with a max cruise speed of 406 knots.

Featuring Embraer’s Prodigy Touch avionics suite (based on the Garmin 3000), the Phenom 100EX “is the first in its class to feature a Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS),” which provides pilots with a comprehensive understanding of anticipated landing conditions during critical moments of flight.

The jet offers an open-concept cockpit, allowing seamless communication within the cabin. Other avionics enhancements include FlightStream 510, automatic 3D volumetric scanning with lightning and hail prediction, stabilized approach, predictive windshear, and more.

The cabin, inspired by Embraer’s Design DNA, boasts sleek upper tech panels integrating cabin controls, sustainable materials, and flush-to-the-wall tables that maximize workspace. The standard seating configuration includes one pilot with five passengers. However, a baseline side-facing fifth seat and a belted lavatory allow for up to seven passengers.

Both the cockpit and cabin have been designed to offer more head and leg room, and the jet features the “largest baggage capacity in its class,” the OEM said.

“We are proud to announce the Phenom 100EX — an aircraft designed to experience excellence with superior comfort and disruptive technology that enhances safety,” said Michael Amalfitano, president and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets. “This product reimagines the entry-level flight experience, offering enhanced comfort, empowering pilots, and enriching journeys to deliver more value to our customers.”

According to Embraer, the Phenom 100EX is “one of the greenest dual-engine jets on the market.” The aircraft is triple-certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, and Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency. The new jet is already sold out for 2024, with the next available delivery slot in 2025.
