2 Air Movements Squadron welcomes new commanding officer

Members of 2 Air Movements Squadron welcomed their new Commanding Officer, Lieutenant-Colonel (LCol) Dwayne Demers, during a parade held at 8 Wing Trenton on Wednesday, July 5.

LCol Demers assumes his position from Major Cam MacKay. No stranger to 8 Wing, LCol Demers was the Squadron Operations Officer and subsequently the Deputy Commanding Officer at 2 Air Movements Squadron starting in 2016. In 2018 he deployed to Operation IMPACT in Kuwait as the Officer Commanding the Mission Support Element before returning to 8 Wing as the Officer Commanding Transportation and Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers Flight. During this period he also served as Acting Commanding Officer for 8 Mission Support Squadron.

Throughout his military career as an Air Logistics Officer, LCol Demers has occupied positions in Canada with 17 Wing, 4 Canadian Forces Movement Control Unit, Canadian Operational Support Command Headquarters, Canadian Joint Operations Command Headquarters, with the Air Staff in Ottawa, and 8 Wing. In addition to Operation IMPACT, he also deployed to Camp Mirage for its closure, to Malta on Operation MOBILE and Afghanistan on Operation ATHENA.

LCol Demers has a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Ottawa, has completed the Joint Command Staff Programme, and holds a Masters of Defence Studies.
