Avianor Inc. announced R. Rick Townsend has joined the Avianor team as vice president of business development.
Based in the United States, Townsend will be focused on developing new opportunities for Avianor in the U.S market, specifically targeting operators in need of maintenance, modification and refurbishment (MRO) services for both Airbus and Boeing aircraft types initially.
Townsend has over 35 years of experience in MRO industry and has a unique understanding of customer needs in this marketplace. In the past, he has held senior management positions with successful MRO companies such as Lufthansa Technik, AAR, PEMCO, FFV and Ascent Aviation Services.
His experience is not limited to MRO business development, however. Having played important roles in building several MRO facilities from the ground up, he will support the growth of the Avianor MRO by assisting the team in further developing the best practices being utilized by Avianor now.
“The entire Avianor team is excited to have Rick on board. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our business and we are very fortunate to be able to learn from him,” said Sylvain Savard, founder and president of Avianor.
Townsend has a bachelor of science in business administration as well as a commercial pilot’s license and has held a FAA repairman certificate.
“In this our 20th year, Rick has bought into the Avianor plan for future growth and we are very proud he has agreed to help us solidify the foundation of this business for the next 20 years and more,” said Earl Diamond, CEO of Avianor.
