Canadian North, an Inuit-owned company, has announced the appointment of Shelly De Caria as vice-president of sales, marketing and distribution, effective Sept. 19, 2023.
Inuktitut as her second language, De Caria underscores Canadian North’s commitment to community and Inuit leadership.
Bringing over a decade of experience to the role, De Caria originated from Kuujjuaq, Québec, and has been a key driver in building strong relationships with stakeholders and customers alike.
She has been instrumental in spearheading Canadian North’s community investment programs, notably the Canada Goose Resource Centre and a targeted annual holiday toy drive for children in remote and northern communities.
“Shelly brings a blend of community understanding and experience to this role, positioning her as a natural to lead the Sales, Marketing and Distribution Team,” said Michael Rodyniuk, president and CEO of Canadian North Airlines.
“Shelly has every ability to succeed, ensuring we remain focused on making life better in the communities we serve.”
“I’m deeply grateful for the chance to serve in this new role and eager for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. With a dedicated team at Canadian North, we’ll continue to strengthen the vital ties to our communities,” said De Caria.
“It’s a privilege to walk this path as an Inuk woman, one I hope makes the journey a little clearer for others.”
Canadian North believes De Caria’s appointment will bolster its ongoing commitment to enriching lives in the communities we serve and contribute to the Arctic’s leading airlines’ future growth strategies.
