Flying Colours Corp. the Canadian headquartered MRO, completion and refurbishment specialist will be promoting its expanding special mission capabilities when it exhibits at this year’s National Business Aviation Association meeting in Orlando, Oct. 21 to 23. Its latest round of special mission projects will see Flying Colours expand its special missions scope for Bombardier Global aircraft. The bespoke Global projects will see the installation of unique customized interiors with supplemental type certificates (STCs) designed and engineered by Flying Colours specifically for the Global airframe. Projects include the installation of multiple-passenger mission interiors for monitoring, in addition to customized designs which include the implementation of tailored multi-use VIP/medevac interiors for an air ambulance which features multiple stretcher systems. Induction of the aircraft is planned for 2015.
As the business expands following the completion of phase one of a three phase facility expansion project at its Peterborough headquarters, Flying Colours is growing this sector of the business in response to increased demand from the client base.
“In effect all our work can be termed special mission as we design and install the interiors to the client’s personalized request. However, special missions take it one step further when specific elements such as medevac kit or specific equipment is added to the mix,” says Sean Gillespie VP sales and marketing.
Flying Colours has already had extensive experience in reconfiguring CRJ200 aircraft into its ExecLiner format with 16 now delivered in tailor-made configuration. In addition its special mission’s activity is buoyed up by an on-going contract that sees seven CRJ700 NextGen aircraft undergoing interior modification. Specific VIP modifications for these aircraft have also required new STCs. This project follows hard on the heels of the delivery of its first special mission CRJ ExecLiner that was converted to a multi-use role interior incorporating executive configuration alongside medevac option and was delivered to Sharjah, UAE-based operate Eagle Aviation in November 2013.
“With our increased hanger capacity at Peterborough, our extremely skilled work force, and our extensive experience in design-engineering specific monuments for aircraft, we are well positioned to continue expanding our special mission customer base. There’s an increasing demand worldwide and we are pleased to be able to respond to the need,” added Gillespie.
