Garmin is proud to celebrate Women of Aviation Week, March 4-10, by shining a light on the brilliant women who share their talent and passion with Garmin’s aviation business segment and beyond.

Women of Aviation Week is a global aviation awareness week for girls of all ages observed to mark the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot’s licence.

Throughout the week, community members and Garmin associates will have multiple opportunities to learn about and celebrate women in aviation, an industry that is predominantly occupied by men.

  • High School Hangar Days: A future female aviator’s dream. Female students from local high schools will visit the Garmin hangar where they will get to experience a flight simulator, tour the hangar and even take a free flight in a Garmin avionics-equipped plane.
  • Classroom Presentations: Garmin associates will travel to local schools to speak to fourth, fifth and sixth graders about careers in aviation and lead a STEM (science technology, engineering and mathematics) activity for the students.
  • Garmin Field Day Trip: Garmin will host groups of high school students to its campus where they will have the opportunity to meet with associates, learn about general and business aviation and get to see Garmin’s flight simulator first-hand.
  • Associate Speaker: Garmin associates will have the opportunity to hear from Jeanné Willerth, a Master certified flight instruction (CFI) who provides single and multi-engine training the Kansas City area.

Garmin is no stranger to educating and promoting its passion for the world of aviation. Aside from making avionics that have revolutionized flight, Garmin provides multiple opportunities for associates to learn about and even enter into the aviation industry, including Flight Sim First Fridays where associates can get up close and personal with the products in Garmin’s flight simulator.

Garmin is also proud to offer Garmin Ground School taught at its Olathe headquarters, and offers multiple reimbursement paths for associates pursuing a pilot’s licence.

Whether it’s a Garmin associate or an aspiring young aviator, Garmin is sharing its passion for the skies. Click here to read more about women in aviation at Garmin.
