The MRJ underwent cold and hot soak tests in the McKinley Climatic Laboratory at the Eglin Air Force Base in Florida from Feb. 28 through March 17. Cold and hot soak tests are to ensure the operational capability of the airframe and system components such as engines in a simulation of a broad range of temperature conditions between extreme cold (-40C) and extreme hot (50C).

These in-house tests confirmed that the engines, APUs and other key system components were operational as planned even in harsh environments. The testing staff of the laboratory praised the MRJ, saying, “This is just an aircraft elaborately made in Japan.”
